Home on the range: Joint Terminal Attack Controllers train with 188th Warthogs
Senior Airman Daniel Clark, a Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC), plots coordinates for A-10C Thunderbolt II “Warthog” air strikes during a Close-Air Support (CAS) training exercise at the 188th Fighter Wing’s Detachment 1 Razorback Range, which is located on Fort Chaffee Maneuver Training Center, Ark. Clark is a member of the 19th Air Support Operations Squadron based in Fort Campbell, Ky. The 188th’s Razorback Range is a key asset and currently is the best among all Air National Guard units nationwide in terms of proximity to the wing. Razorback Range’s proximity to Ebbing Air National Guard Base allows the 188th’s A-10s to be on the range just two minutes after takeoff, which makes the unit the most efficient A-10 unit in the ANG in terms of training costs.
