Conversion countdown: Tail No. 649 departs 188th

Lt. Col. John Gonzales, 23rd Operations Support Squadron commander, performs preflight inspections on Tail No. 649, a 188th Fighter Wing A-10C Thunderbolt II “Warthog,” before delivering the aircraft to Moody Air Force Base, Ga., Feb. 11, 2014. Stanley L. Retired Chief Master Sgt. Stanley Stefancic Jr. and Lindsey Stefancic, spouse of Col. Stefancic, place the colonel insignia on Stefancic’s service coat.
