Conversion countdown: Tail No. 649 departs 188th
Lt. Col. John Gonzales, 23rd Operations Support Squadron commander, performs preflight inspections on Tail No. 649, a 188th Fighter Wing A-10C Thunderbolt II “Warthog,” before delivering the aircraft to Moody Air Force Base, Ga., Feb. 11, 2014. The 188th is undergoing a mission conversion from A-10s to remotely piloted aircraft with an intelligence and targeting mission. The 188th now has seven A-10s remaining on station.
