188th Wing’s state firefighting mission ends after 27 years
Airmen with the 188th Fire Emergency Services Flight conduct training at the 188th Wing during a Unit Training Assembly. In addition to the 188th FESF’s primary mission of providing fire protection to military aircraft and installation facilities, it also responded to emergency calls for commercial and civilian aircraft as well as medical emergencies through a joint-use agreement with the Fort Smith Regional Airport for 27 years. That mission ended Sept. 30, 2014. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Airman 1st Class John Hillier/Released)
