Let there be blood: 188th Airmen participate in local blood drive
Airman 1st Class Steven Galvan donates blood during a blood drive hosted at the 188th Fighter Wing during February's Unit Training Assembly. The Arkansas Blood Institute arrived at the 188th Fighter Wing to assist Air National Guard volunteers in donating their blood. During the session, the institute gathered at least 30 pints of blood from 22 Airmen volunteers. Volunteers were able to donate either single bags of blood or double bags through the use of the double red blood cell machine. The machine collects twice as much blood from donors than the standard equipment used and also separates the donors' red blood cells from plasma. The institute's mission is to provide blood to patients in Western Arkansas. (National Guard photo by Airman 1st Class Cody Martin/188th Fighter Wing Public Affairs)
