188th Wing’s state firefighting mission ends after 27 years

A firefighter from the 188th Wing trains during an exercise at Ebbing Air National Guard Base, Fort Smith, Ark. In addition to the 188th Fire Emergency Services Flight’s primary mission of providing fire protection to military aircraft and installation facilities, it also responded to emergency calls for commercial and civilian aircraft as well as medical emergencies through a joint-use agreement with the Fort Smith Regional Airport for 27 years.
