Local weatherman receives ride with Thunderbirds

Meteorologist Drew Michaels of local ABC affiliate KHBS/KHOG 40/29 received an orientation ride in a U.S. Air Force Thunderbird F-16D Falcon Sept. 30 during the Fort Smith Air Show, which was attended by a record 255,000 spectators.

Capt. Kristin Hubbard, Thunderbird advance pilot and narrator, was Michaels' pilot. Michaels received a "9G" pin and a framed and autographed lithograph. Michaels pulled 9Gs three times during the flight, which lasted about one hour.
