The National Guard Association of Arkansas (NGAA) offers term life insurance for service members and their families for a very low premium.

Up to $50,000 in coverage is available to all qualified service members. Also available is coverage for family members ranging from $5,000 to $25,000.

New enlistees are entitled to $10,000 of free coverage for their first year in the Arkansas National Guard. The coverage is 24/7 with no exclusions, and claims are normally paid within 24 hours. You can keep this insurance until age 65 and premiums will not increase. At age 65 your coverage may be converted to whole life insurance if desired.

Additionally, if you have the life insurance from NGAA and are a member of the EAANG or NGAA you can apply for one of the $500 college scholarships given away annually. You can also send in a scholarship application for your spouse or child.

The applications for the scholarships are normally available mid-November and the cutoff is Feb. 15. Recipients are announced in early April, but no later than the annual NGAA conference.

All traditional, AGR and technicians are eligible for this program. If you have any questions or wish to request an application please call NGAA at 1-800-522-1617, (501)758-6422, or Eva Patton, 188th Fighter Wing Family Readiness Office, (479)573-5167.
