The City of Taylor was recently nominated and awarded the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriot Award for their support of a Guard or Reserve member's military career who works in the organization.

The award was presented to City Council during their Oct. 8, meeting.

Capt. Holli Nelson, who serves with the 188th Wing, Fort Smith, Arkansas, nominated the city of Taylor for this award.

"It is never easy for an employer to work around a National Guard or Reserve member's sometimes difficult military schedule," said Nelson, 188th Public Affairs officer. "But the City of Taylor has been nothing but extremely supportive of my military profession and goals and they go out of their way to ensure that I have what I need to be successful and maintain both my civilian and military careers at the same time."

The ESGR,  is a Department of Defense office created to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve component service members and their civilian employers to promote a culture in which all American employers value military service of their employees and offers a program whereby military members can show their support in return.
