Magda Hamblin, 188th Force Support Squadron superintendent, was promoted to the rank of chief master sergeant Oct. 15, 2016.

Col. Gregory A. Johnson, Air National Guard Advisor to the Director of Logistics, Engineering and Force Protection, presided over the ceremony held at the 188th headquarters auditorium.

"This is the type of person you want to mentor you if you want to be successful," said Johnson. "She genuinely cares about every person she leads."

Hamblin joined the 162nd Fighter Wing in March, 1998. Hamblin has served with the 162nd Mission Support Group, 162nd Communications Flight, ANG Air Force Reserve Command Test Center (AATC) and the National Guard Bureau. While assigned to NGB, Hamblin's positions included noncommissioned officer in charge of protocol, enlisted executive assistant and travel coordinator and as superintendent of the command section for the ANG Readiness Center (ANGRC) commander.

As the superintendent of the ANGRC, Hamblin provided direction for the Air National Guard Airman and Family Readiness Program Force Support Squadrons at 92 ANG Wings and more than 200 geographically separated units. Hamblin developed and executed policy for Airman and Family Reediness programs for more than 105,000 service members across the 54 states and territories.

"I was so fortunate to be able to serve the 54 states and territories," stated Hamblin. "That's not something everyone gets to experience."

During the ceremony, Hamblin explained that in order to make chief, it takes hard work and the support of her three families: the ANG, the 188th and her family and friends, including her two children, Laryssa and Jose, who followed in their mother's footsteps by serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Hamblin ended the ceremony by presenting her senior master sergeant stripes to the lowest-ranking person in the room and challenging her to succeed before thanking everyone for attending.

"Although I've only been here a short time, this family has kindly opened their hearts and arms to me and have given me their continuous support," Hamblin said. "I am blessed and to have such an amazing and incredible team. I want to thank you for all of your support."
