EBBING AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Ark. --

Chief Master Sgt. Donald E. Frederick assumed responsibility as the 188th Wing command chief master sergeant during a ceremony held here April 7, 2019.

As command chief of the wing, Frederick is the top enlisted advisor bridging the gap between Airmen and senior leaders.

“Some of the best days of my 36-year career have been being part of some of the most inspiring, delightful, fulfilling, aggravating, and perplexing conversations I've had with many different folks, ” Frederick said. “As leaders, we have to learn to have those uncomfortable conversations.”

188th Wing Commander, Col. Robert I. Kinney, expressed his confidence in Frederick's leadership for the wing’s Airmen.

“He was chosen because of his reputation with the Airmen of this wing, both officer and enlisted,” said Kinney. “He is a credible, mature, steady, leader, and a mentor just to name a few.”

Frederick joined the Air National Guard in 1983 as a crew chief working on various airframes, to include the F-4 A Phantom II, F-16 A/C Fighting Falcon, and A-10 A/C Thunderbolt II before becoming the aircraft maintenance superintendent for the 188th Wing. During the 188th Wing's mission change, Frederick cross-trained into the intelligence career field and was recruited to become the superintendent for the space-based targeting squadron.

Frederick takes over responsibility as command chief from Chief Master Sgt. Stephen R. Bradley. Bradley has served as command chief since 2013 and helped guide the wing through the transition from a flying mission to an intelligence mission.

"We were at the beginning of one of the largest and most complex conversions this wing had ever seen, I had confidence in the abilities and dedication of the Airmen and knew we could make it happen," said Bradley. "It was my honor to serve as your command chief during that time."
